Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
Safeguarding applies throughout all activities delivered by Lighthouse, including learning at our base, practical activities, community and outdoor learning, transport, online activity, mentoring and communication with families and professionals.
We maintain a culture in which children and young people are listened to, treated with dignity and supported to feel safe, known and respected. All concerns about a child’s safety or welfare are taken seriously, recorded factually and passed without delay to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Guidance
Working in accordance with national guidance
Lighthouse works in accordance with relevant national safeguarding guidance, including Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026 and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, which has been in force since 1 September 2026.
All staff, volunteers and governors/trustees are briefed on the 2026 edition, and our safeguarding policy and training reflect its requirements.
